No, the set \( \mathbb{R} \) with the operations \( x \) and \( y \) as defined is not a field. In order for a set to be a field, it must satisfy certain properties such as closure under addition and multiplication, existence of additive and multiplicative inverses, and distributive property. In this case, the set \( \mathbb{R} \) with the given operations does not have multiplicative inverses for all elements, as the operation \( y \) does not have an inverse. **

No, r is not a field with the given operations. In order for r to be a field, it must satisfy the field axioms, including closure under addition and multiplication, existence of additive and multiplicative inverses, and distributivity. However, the given operations do not satisfy these axioms, so r cannot be a field with these operations. **

This issue might be due to the keyboard language settings in Excel. If the keyboard language is set to a different language, pressing the "z" key may result in the letter "y" being typed. To fix this issue, you can check and adjust the keyboard language settings in Excel by going to the "File" menu, selecting "Options," and then navigating to the "Language" or "Advanced" settings. Make sure that the correct keyboard language is selected to resolve the problem. **
